ironing laminating pouches

This probably sounds like a mad idea but I thought about it this morning for some reason and wondered if anyone had tried it? Would it be possible to use a domestic iron and one of those protective ironing cloths rather than a laminator, I am going to try it, but not tonight, and was wondering if anyone has already tried it? If you are determined to try it, put the pouches on tin foil, then put more tin foil on top and iron that.
Put the iron on to a hot setting but don't leave it in the same place for long.
Weight the whole lot down with heavy books for a few hours afterwards.

a4 laminaters start at around 10m to 15 quid

legend.isgod, I already have an A4 laminator and have just bought an A3 one, so the issue is not the cost it is just curiosity. Kath.
