Rover 75 Bonnet opening

The bonnet catch wire seems to have stretched or broken and I need to open the bonnet on my 75. Any suggestions would be welcome.

try a Google search for 'rover 75 bonnet catch'. Several links on what the problem might be, and the solution.

try detaching the cable from the handle and pull it further, it should give you more distance to pull (with pliers) . the other way in is via the grill which is quite difficult.
