TV - recording freeview

I need to buy a new TV ... the one I have now is just a TV (ie no freeview) but I have a freeview box with records ..... what happens when I buy a new TV with built in freeview ...... how do I record? Can I get a TV which records freeview all built in together? HELP!! It's just TOO complicated.

I don't think you can get a TV which records freeview buil in but there is nothing to stop you connecting your current recordable freeview box to any new tv you get.

My new LG digital tv has got freeview built in so I can watch the normal channels plus the freeview ones. To record a programme you need to hook the tv up to either a video or a dvd recorder. You will then get a handset that has the *record* option it but you will only be able to record the programme you are watching. However, if your video or dvd recorder has its own freeview built it, then effectively you have two tuners and can record one programme onto the video or dvd recorder and watch a different programme on the tv.

Do not buy a TV with built in Freeview!!

You can record from it but one really big snag - to do so, the TV must be on and it must be set to the channel you want to record, and if you have to do that, you might as well watch it anyway.

Also, just the one tuner limits you.

Get yourself a twin tuner digi box, like Humax - they are brilliant.

OMG!! This is more confusing than I thought ......!! Can any of you paste some links for the type of box I need ...... so if I have this right I can buy a TV with buit in Freeview and then I need a DVD Hard Drive Recorder ........... this way I can then watch, say BBC1, but record SKY THREE etc ..... I am sure I am just being thick, but need to be sure ............. although why I am bothering I don't know - rarely find anything to watch let alone watch one channel and record another !!!!! LOL

Let's see if I have this straight poetrylover ... you want to buy a TV with Freeview built in, and you already have a Freeview box which records programmes ?

With that combination you can watch one channel on the TV and record another with the box, because you would have two Freeview receivers. It would just be a matter of connecting them up together in the right way so they share an aerial and so that you can watch what you have recorded.

I have just bought a new LD tv with freeview, before this I had a Thomson didgibox for freeview and to record.
I can still use the digibox to record programmes with the new tv, I was worried it would not happen even though Comet assured me it would be okay, well they were right I can still record using the digibox.

I really was quite confused - but now I am enlightened,
I shall buy a new TV, as is no need to be frightened!!
