bmw 318i (E30)

i have a problem with my 89 bmw 318i.it is automatic transmission.i have noticed that at the beginning of journeys the engine cuts out in mid motion.it kind of sounds and feels like a manual transmission stall.this is baffling and embarrrassing as it chooses ideal moments like when a traffic light turns green!i have had various suggestions but am not sure which is correct.would appreciate any advice- whether experienced or theoretical.what exactly is the problem??

I have a 92 j BMW 318i Tourer. I have no end of problems with my cooling system, it keeps buildin up pressure and twice it has blown the hose off the Rad. I keep letting the pressure out via the bleed screw on the rad, then when cold I refill, but half hour latwer it has built up again.

It is not the thermo, both pipes to the rad get hot, so would you recomend a complete flush?
