St Christopher is often used as a sports protetor - i.e. St. Chris medal for footballers. St Mirren is called the Celtic patron saint of football in Scotland....

I believe St Desmond of Lynam is generally recognised as the preeminent saint of football and followers of the holy game although he is sometimes wrongly confused with the divine Motson , wearer of the Coat of Many Sheep
