i bought a hp printer and could not get it to connect to my laptop which runs vista it was coming up on screen sucessfully installed,then when iwent to click on it ,it showed another message this device is not installed,i even dowloaded a new driver from hp website but still is doing the same thing,i also checked and their is plenty of space on my hard drive to install it does anyone know wat the proc could be.

My HP printer / all-in-one took ages to install on my Vista PC. It may be that you're not giving it enough time to do all its installation things. I suggest: (1) you click on Start - Settings - Printers to see if there's anything there. If not you could try clicking on Add a Printer and see what happens. (2) Start - Programs - HP, again see if anything is there. If your printer appears on the list you could try clicking on Uninstall as it is possible you've only managed to do a partial install. (3) When the Uninstall is complete. Unhook the printer and start again from scratch allowing plenty of time for all the various bits of the installation to complete before you start trying to use the printer. (I recommend making a cup of tea and checking progress from time to time!)
