Has anyone experienced a problem like this: I have a c redit card with BHS and as suggested by them I changed my pin number at a cash point which went through successfully, but since then my card has been blocked. I have made numerous calls to the Credit card company, and have supplied them with iD material, but nothings seems to be done. The bad news is that I have a credit balance on the card and cannot spend it.. I must have spent a small fortune on phone calls and postage so far. Would be grateful if anyone has a solution to the problem.

BHS as in British Home Stores? Why would you deal with financial matters with a clothes shop? No wonder you are having trouble. I do my banking with a bank and have had no such trouble.

lol. I guess my age is showing.
good advice av, have you ever thought of writing a book about the art of stable door closing ?
Hehe! Many times. But first I must pop down to the electric company to update my bank details.

i cant understand this
if you have given them your card number and answered all the security question they require they should send you the original security number by post ,that should work in the atm or they should supply you with another card?
seems very odd from bhs mastercard

Thanks Rojash, I have been to this site and asked advice from the Obudsman. Hope this gets resolved.
It is an odd situation, but maybe it is because I have always paid my bill off each month and they are not making enough money out of me. As I say, I am £14 in credit.
Have you tried asking for a replacement card?
D'ter had same with Tesco card when (unknowingly) in credit. Accountant needed monthly statement for accounts & Tesco omitted to supply, until several phone calls, time-wasting & threats of closure, they finally supplied & charged for absent statements; blamed PO (I get mine similarly so not PO fault)! Now fighting for charge reimbursement!

Thanks folks, yes I have asked for a replacement but they say they can do nothing as the card is blocked. Got in touch with the ombudsman and downloaded form, but nothing can happen until I have registered a formal complaint and waited 8 weeks. Tried to do this this morning but was passed on to a so called manager, who said he did not not why they had passed it on to him as he could do nothing until the card was unblocked! This phone call took about 40 minutes. He said he was not even in the same building. I will have to send yet another letter. They are saying that they have not received my letter which I sent with my ID info.
How about writing to Sir Philip Green, big boss of BHS.

I bet he could bang a few heads together.
your card is a "master card like mine
i blocked mine by putting wrong number in three times i contacted master card gave my card number and security answers , the lady on the phone unblocked it on their system, and then she then said go to and atm and finish off by going to "unblock my pin number" after inserting the card
job done in30 mins
don't know why you've not followed this simple route ?

Thanks Deggers,I had not thought of this. Perhaps its my aged (77). I will certainly try this.
betty go to the cash point make sure its got a mastercard sign on the outside of the machine as well as link /visa etc
enter your ORIGINAL pin number you were sent, then go to pin services "unblock pin" then "change pin" number again
see if that works, it should?
Question Author
Thanks Deggers, I will try this as soon as I can get into town. Thanks also Panic Button, that seems like a good Idea. I think Mr. Green would be interested to know that BHS were losing money over such a trivial matter.
