There isn't a catch but you need establish your call pattern (by looking at the last itemised bills) to see if it would cost you less. If you make lots of daytime calls Monday-Friday to normal UK geographical numbers (not mobiles or special rate numbers) or 0845 numbers, then it might be better for you.
There is another call plan which costs less per month but includes free calls to the set of numbers above but only at weekends or evening after 6.00pm Monday - Friday.
You have to hang up calls at 59 minutes and redial to avoid being charged after the 60 minute clause - just use the timer on the phone to monitor.

Hi, I was with Bt for many years and in that time had many different tarrifs but none of them was as cheap as my present one, Post Office. By the time I added on all the different bits like £4.50 for not paying by Direct Debit, paying more for line rental and others it cost me a lot more. Even though I paid by card in the post office and quite often my bill was paid by the time it arrived I was still charged this extra £4.50. Then you have their customer service or should I say lack of it. I am glad I moved my account and now when I call I have a call centre that is located in the UK, Free evening and weekend calls and Free calls to mobiles at the weekend. I think if you don't use the phone a lot in the daytime you could well be better off with someone else. Sorry to get a bit off track with this but I am quite anti BT at the moment, dont like being ripped off.
