Stone vs. American weight

I'm from America, and here we weigh in at pounds. (ie: 127 lbs) and I've noticed in England they have something like, 11 Stone. I was just wondering if anyone knew a way for me to find out what 11 Stone 12 Stone and so on would be in American lbs, or vice versa. Thank you :)

We use pounds too - it's just that we group them together in stones and only talk about the 'spare' in pounds.  So I wouldn't say that I weighed 115lbs, I'd say I weigh 8st 3lbs

Why can't our colonial cousins weigh people in stones and pounds instead of all in stones?  Why, you even use different TIME from us!

Now now, people. Clam down. The USA is a different country with a different culture from Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Since before what British King George III is supposed to have called "a little local difficulty" and all those tea leaves in Boston Harbour, America has asserted its difference. A lot of us in the UK use kilogrammes, litres, metres and seconds and their associated units as the system makes a lot of sense arithmetically. I don't see the USA taking that on.

 

Let us not forget, the USA call a pint a liquid measure of 16 USA fluid ounces (0.568261 litres), whereas in UK it is 20 UK fl. oz. (0.473176 litres) That makes an US gallon (8 pints) only 83.27% of a British one. There are historical reasons for this difference, and it is entirely arbitary. Vive la difference!
