I want to record a number of my own VHS Recordings onto DVD with a Menu ( preferably with Thumbnails ). As this would involve a certain amount of editing and possibly re-ordering the clips , I would like to know if this is possible using a standard DVD Recorder or would i need to get one with a hard drive. I used to think i needed a HD but I recently saw a standard recorder which featured  Animated Thumbnails . I'm thoroughly confused now so any help would be appreviated.

My average Panasonic DVD recorder has thumbnails on. Although you only really get them if the video has definite sections. E.g- if the tape is a video you made of one occasion, that will warrant only 1 thumbnail. If the video then goes to another section, recorded at a later date, the machine will somehow realise this, and make a new thumbnail. I don't know if there is a way to make more of them as I have only just got it!
