I would like to know how I can go about raising money for this tragedy.  I am hoping the company I work for will take this on board and help me help the people who need it most.  If I were to put buckets in my place of work to raise money do I need anything else than that. Where do I send the money are there any legal things I should know - this may should a little stupid but I have never done anything like this and have noone to ask but you guys so any answers please. xx

I think you best bet would be to do as you suggest and get some buckets or collection tins. Print some labels for them which tell people what the money is going for. Then when the money is collected give it to one of the larger charities such as Oxfam. They have the infastructure, equipment etc in place to make sure than as much of that money gets directly to the victims. I would talk to your HR/Personnel manager about it but I don't think under the circumstance they would object. I think in such situations you wouldn't have to worry too much about legal aspects, but just to make everything above board get somebody in authority to help count the money and deliver it to the charity.
P.S. good luck and good on you. I did my little bit by making a donation on Oxfam today.
