Yesterday i sent back my boy's computer which i bought on ebay a couple of weeks ago, when i bought it i collected it because of the weight p+p was expensive, anyway it was faulty so i put in a dispute in which i won. Was told to send it recorded and ring ebay with the tracker number which i did, but what upset me was the £23 it cost me to send it back i will not be refunded. So this guy sells me a duff computer and i end up £23 out of pocket, i don't think this is fair. What are your opinions folks?

bought from a private seller or a shop?
Question Author
A private seller Chuck
had a similiar problem myself, sent something back for an exchange as it was faulty and had to pay the return post.....annoyed me but not much i clould do at the time
unfortunately the sale of goods act doesn't cover private sellers, only retailers and shops so you may be out of luck.
Why didnt you tell E BAY youd picked it up and would get a signed note that youd delivered it back to the seller ?
Was faulty when you got it? Or did it work for a few weeks then broke?
And could you not have taken it back again yourself, thus saving yourself the postage?

It went wrong a few days after i got it home, you have to wait 10 days after you put a dispute in with ebay, boo you cannot take it back yourself as the seller could say he hasn't recieved it, that's why it has to be sent recorded delivery for the signature.
When you took it back you should have got the seller to give you a receipt that he has received it back. You take a chance buying computers off ebay but there are a lot of honest dealers out there but looks like you met one of the not so honest.

Speak to eBay, Bob, email them via the site - I'm not saying that they can do anything about it, but they will give you an opinion.

EDDIE, that was the first thing i done, i rang ebay and they told me that you cannot take it back yourself it has to be posted recorded delivery, crazy i know but that's ebay rules. I will have to be more careful next time i think about buying anything eletrical off ebay.
