block area of a boat

i'm not sure if i'm in the right section.

When i googled it, nothignr eally came up so i was wondering you lot knew what the block area of a boat is and how you measure it?

these are the measurements.

Length: 3.82m
Draft: 1.12
Beam: 1.42m

hangon, that doesn't seem big enough, i thought it was 12 ft long or is 3.82m jsut under 12 ft . . . .

. . . . yes it is, infact its 12.5 ft

The ''block area'' is simply the room taken up by a boat within a rectanglular area - calculated as its overall length multiplied by the width of the beam at its broadest point.

I should have added... 5.4244 sq m in your case. ;-)

ahh, i thought about that, but it didn't make sense as it wouldn't be the space taken up, as you add on corner bits, where the hull goes into a point, for the stem.
