Does anyone know how to stop
start up programmes running
when i turn my laptop on

delete doesnt work - is there a "fast key"

Buenchico

Go to Start > Run
Type 'msconfig' (without the quote marks) and hit 'OK'.
Select the Startup tab'
Click to remove ticks alongside programs you don't require.
Click 'Apply' and then 'OK'.
Restart your laptop. When you see a message about 'selective startup', click to place a tick alongside 'Do not show this message again'.
