I set my skyplus up to tape the Mentalist last night while we watched another programme we had taped and when I went to watch it today it said the recording had failed.

Is it not possible to do this?

Are you sure you weren't 'taping' two progs at once whilst watching another as it won't do this but you should have had a message asking you to delete one recording.

I still sometimes say "tape" about my Sky+ box (from the old VHS days).

It of course does not "tape" anything, just copies it to a hard disk, so I try and use the word "record" instead nowadays.

I have also had recording fail, even when I only have one thing to record, and I am not even watching the TV.

A puffys says, it is just one of those things that happens every so often.
