Recently bought a new washer and after following installation instructions re pre wash I did a first wash and there was a horrible plastic burning smell. Is this common/usual? I don't know whether to persevere. Haven't used it since. Wasn't any smoke. Just the smell. Thanks BB

Thanks. It was from currys (or was it comet?). It didn't do it on the initial 90' wash so I think a fault. Thanks again. BB
Are you sure you removed all the packing materials?

Some of them have lumps of polystyrene in plastic bags pushed either side ofthe drum.
Washing machines usually have to have the transit bolts removed at the back that hold the drum whilst in transit. Did you remove them? Not sure if leaving them in would cause a smell though.

Drum retaining bolts were removed and all packing as far as I'm aware. Did the first wash empty, as instructed, and everything was fine. THink it might be going back! Thanks to all. BB
