I've received a malicious email which of course isn't signed, I've got their email
address but is there any way I can find out who or where it's from please?

You could try looking at the message source for a sender but if it's from a generic email provider like hotmail or gmail, you've no chance of finding out.

Not necessarily - it's very easy to spoof a fake e-mail address.

It won't tell you who it's from but it will tell you where.

Karen that site isn't legit, it just tells you everyone's in California and then asks for money

You need to look at the email header. Have you done that?
