I`ve taken this question from another post regarding ads which has prompted me to ask ` how do I remove them from the screen`. I have loads on screen all the time. I am on mozilla firefox. My computer is slow and it was mentioned that if you remove the ads, it can become quicker. Any help appreciated. Thanks

You can remove them.....

Install adblock plus as I said.

(ps, the adverts have nothing at all to do with your browsers being free!)

Google for and download the free AdBlock Pro (ABP) add-on for Firefox. I haven't seen an advert for years!

Thanks LCDman. Ive just tried to load it but it hasnt worked. What am I doing wrong ?
in firefox click tools > add-ons click on get add-ons and type "adblock plus" into the search bar and then click install when it finds it.
do you mean ones that just appear on the edges of the pages? - like here ---->

if so i dont think you can remove them, as they are the reason the browser is free for you to use and why this site is free...

Yes, the ones either side of the page and one along the top. So you cant remove them, I thought that was what the other thread `haggis` was referring to. Never mind. Thanks for your help

my ads have all gone, incluidng top and side, but after installing Adblock Plus I had to specify something or other to block - I think it was Chuck who told me what, so perhaps he can oblige again.

Yes, right, I think it has now installed. I have a ABP in top corner, but ads still appear as you say jno, so perhaps chuck can help me on this one again, if he would please
Have you restarted your browser (just shut it and open it again)

You should then get a page asking you to subscribe to a list, select easylist (USA) and click subscribe and most adverts will go.

if you've not been given the option to subscribe to a list then click on the little down arrow next to the red ABP logo in the top right, select preferences, then select filters > add filter and then select easylist.

Thanks Chuck. Ive tried everything youve said but still no joy. I`ll keep trying and let you know. Perhaps when I close down and re open it might work.
