we were due to fly home from Tenerife on Sunday 27th March but had a 2 DAY delay! we were put in a hotel and fed but we ended up loosing 2 days wages because of it between us (me and partner) Insurance we took out doesnt cover us for this - is there any way we can make a claim through Thomas Cook? We have put in a complaints form already (not complaining but just detailing we had lost wages) just waiting for a reply now

you haven't been very specific about the reason for the delay.

we were told the landing gear was broken and that an engineer and parts had to be flown in hence why it took 2 days to sort out
Was it a Thomas Cook plane?
Have you read the small print of your contract?

I wouldnt hold your breath with Thomas Cook giving you anything. We had a 'do' with them over changing the size of the aircraft when we all went on a long haul at Christmas. They downgraded us to a tiny plane that would have been suitable for short haul but not for a 9 hour flight and not with a baby on your knee, we were squashed up like animals it was horrible. Basically they didnt give a sh*t though and we really complained again and again, got us no where.
Don't bother messing about with the Thomas Cook process, just file a small claim, they are responsible, if it is the fault of an airline then TC can claim off them in turn. Go to your local court, get the bumph on small claims and go for it, they'll settle out of court once they see the claim is real. I've done this twice now in similar situations.
