Invalid chairs

I was in conversation with a lady on a moterised invalid chair. she told me that she had been involved in an accident, fotunatley not agreat deal of damage done. my question is, does one require insurance for the vehicle and/ or oneself when using the chair?

But the way some folk use them it ought to be compulsory... especially when they exceed walking pace in busy shopping ares... some go up to 8 mph

I have a mobility scooter and was advised that insurance is not essential/compulsory but obviously is recommended.

I have insurance and realised how sensible when two days ago a man was broken down locally on his scooter and was unable to get home. I arranged help for him but I've no idea how much it cost - probably more than the annual premium.

They should do. There's a woman round here that drives it in the middle of the road...even on the busy road!!

I have an 4mph and a 8mph mobility scooters, and use the small one for putting in the car, and the large one for use around my living area, and must admit I do sometimes drive the 8mph on the local side roads if it's in working hours when most persons are at work, but having 55 years driving large and small vehicles I don't drive in the middle of the road unless I am going to turn right into another side road. I haven't had any repercussions from anyone .....yet. I do get many shoppers suddenly stop right in front of me or
walk across my path and I have to stop abrutly and then people bump into my rear end and cus me for doing so, and not bumping into the people who caused me to stop. We just can't win!!!
