How To Cancel Auto Renewal

Anyone know how to cancel auto renewal with direct line. the paperwork came through, £70 more than any online quote, but I can't see anything about cancelling the auto renewal process. insurance not due til 15th Jan, so plenty of time to cancel without penalties. i don't want tp 'phone them if i can help it, as I have better things to do with my time than listen to someone trying to convince me that I should stay with them.

£70 I have better things to , you must have plenty Annie, I would phone them on their Free Phone No, it only takes a few mins, then you are sure it's stopped.

That's daft to say you don't want to phone them - just ring 'em up and say you want to cancel at renewal, they'll just cancel it. if you say it's because the price has gone up, they might knock it back down to match the others (but they will ask what the other quotes have been for like for like cover). You don't have to listen to a sales spiel, it's your call, you're the customer.

Its always best to cancel an insurance anyway (If it had not auto renewed and you'd simply gone elsewhere it goes down as an unpaid/lapsed insurance and damages your credit rating. Oh yes it does!

Phone them and to cancel it and they'll send a letter to confirm. This acts as a reference for no claims bonuses etc.

if they take the money by direct debit, in extreme circumstances, you could change your bank account i suppose!

If you don't want to phone them why choose a company with a phone as it's logo.
I'd been with them over 20 years 'til I got this years renewal, price was ridiculous. Rang them and cancelled.........took 5 minutes.

If not paying an auto-renewal leads to a bad credit rating, and I have strong doubts that it does (certainly a lapsing doesn't), then is this not more reason to simply pick up the 'phone?

I cancelled by phone and it didnt take long. They did of course ask why and I told them but no pressure to stay with them.
