I need to renew my breakdown insurance. I want national cover, home start and relay (onward travel). The AA want £150 (they`ll drop to £125), RAC have a deal on so it`s £119 (+ £30 free petrol) but GoCompare have a lot of companies such as Kwikfit etc. Has anybody got any recommendations of someone who`s service they have actually used? It`s all well and good offering a cheap rate but no good if they take 3 hours to turn up.

Do you shop at Tesco? I buy my RAC cover with Tesco vouchers and it costs me 45 quid in vouchers. Includes personal cover, roadside, recovery and at home components.
Ask your Insurance Company they do add on deals like this, worth a try.
i am in hte same position as you, so await answers with interest. AA have really hacked me off this year
I've got RAC cover at the moment but that's simply I get a good deal by including it with my car insurance. In the past though I've used, and been very satisfied with, Autonational Rescue:

I sued the RAC ( years ago ) for not turning up. They played the tapes and then said " o we didnt think your plea for help was ... a plea for help. OK yeeeeh ! ? " and then she rang off.
well I knew that - but I wanted to know why.

and issued a letter-before-action which they settled by return.

I asked the fambly for help and a relation said, oh my husband will assist ( being mechanical) when we got around to detail he said - well I am going out for a walk with the dogs ! and let me to sort it out myself.

odd day that. we dont talk much now.

I have been with the AA for the last twenty years.
