Hi would anybody know if there are any insurance companies that would insure a 78 year old man who had a heart attack eight years a and has enjoyed good health ever since? Thank you.
Try Saga or M&S. My OH and I have annual insurance with M&S. He is 65 but had a heart attack 15 years ago. You have to decide whether to exclude pre-existing medical conditions and get affordable insurance, or include it and pay huge premiums - often £100s.
It depends if you want to include or exclude pre existing conditions. A lot of insurance companies now no longer have the option to exclude - you have to be covered for all medical history which costs a lot more. Insure and Go still allow you to exclude but you might not want to do that anyway if there is history of heart attack (they insure up to 90 years of age). Avanti are good - I have used them many times for my Mum. Goodtogoinsurance are very good for covering conditions.
This specialist broker may well be able to help:

(That link appears on the websites of several leading charities and some AB members have said that they found it useful to them).
Perhaps the answer I give is not want you to here. I had a heart attack 12 years ago and I went to Spain A year ago. No problems. Last month I spoke to a heart nurse about insurance for the over 75's and she said 90% of them going abroad do not bother with insurance because it is too dear or not available.
I am 67, had a heart attack 7 years ago, 2 stents fitted and I go abroad a couple of times a year, long haul and I have found www.allcleartravel.co.uk to be very good and quotes very reasonable.
