Sorn

My daughters old car is taxed but off the road and never used as she drives her husbands 4x4.She has comprehensive 1nsurance on her car and uses that for third party cover when driving the 4x4.It saves her around £400 on insurance.
Her old car will soon need tax renewal, instead of renewing the road tax could she submit a SORN declaration without it affecting the insurance.

Apart from that I don't see why her car having a SORN will make any difference. The sensible option is to ask her insurance company as getting it wrong could be very costly.

also comp insurance does not automatically mean you can drive another car with the owners permission. If it does not say it on her certificate she is not insured. Yes she can submit a SORN it won't make any difference. I assume this arrangement is to preserve NCD or it would be better to have her as a named driver on her husbands insurance.
