I don't think so bob, my father was profoundly deaf, and I don't think he did, but should you become deaf, I think it would be wise to mention it especially if you are renewing with the same company, as it would be a "change" in your health status.

You are obliged to notify the DVLA of any medical condition which is likely to have a bearing on your ability to drive. The DVLA website gives details of 'NOTIFIABLE DISABILITIES. Click DVLA DISABILITY DRIVING for more detail. Local GPs are familiar with these situations so you may ask for his views. Any failure to inform the DVLA would null the insurance. If you were to seek advice from the insurance company, they simply say IF THE DVLA DON'T WANT TO KNOW, NEITHER DO WE.. First approach is the GP and hope his reply is advantageous.
