I don't remember it being funny. I was quite young when it was on. I do remember my parents watching and it not laughing., apart from an occasional mini-chuckle.

It Was a programme of its time. I can remember chuckling at it. One scene I can still recall is when Penelope Keith's character is standing in the village shop which had obviously become a self-service. She said in her incredibly posh voice, "well if someone is not going to come and serve me, I'm just going to help, myself!"
