i have 1 years travel insurance through ( coverforyou ) they are cheap ! no customer service just a voice mail and instruction on how to claim.

ok. last month i booked hols for me and gf to go from uk to thailand then onto vietnam , booked cruise etc in vietnam and have all reciepts etc.

today was meant to travel ( booked 3 weeks off work ) coach from belfast to dublin broke down , could not have made it to checkin , would have been impossible !!

what will happen now, i have a good idea, the insurance company will try wiggle their way out of things per usual. im down about £1500 out of pocket, plus ive no work for next 3 weeks as i booked it off, so im down 3 week wages.

discusted, so what now what would you do, etihad airlines say i can fly tomorrow but need pay 700 euro ( even though im a guest member 10 years )
i booked ticked through www.skyscanner.com

any advice appreciated , thankyou

What was the 'check in time' 9.30 flight, for a USA flight the check in is normally 2 hours before departure ie 7.30 . The coach barely gave you time to get to the airport while allowing for normal expected delays!
Sorry I don't think you have a hope of a payout, let alone a 'quick one'.
Why is it DD that on your posts you always seem to be having problems due to 'cutting corners' or doing something that seems a 'bit iffy'?
I don't think DD stands a chance either.

When I go away I look at the coach times that will get me there in plenty of time and then book the earlier one...just in case. I would rather doss in an airport than miss my flight.
Your right we will leave a wee bit earlier and get there for 10.
It is not a good idea to question DD, he tends to get very uppity when he doesn't get the answer he wants.
But mainly with you Eccles :-)
I know Eccles, DD is one of those rare beasts a man who is always right!
The truth hurts Ummmm... :-)

is this your EX that is not your EX now.
Sorry DD. But I don't think you have a claim. It is your responsibility to ensure you are at the airport and check in in plenty of time. Check in usually 2 hours before take-off. Depending on the distance to be travelled to the airport I always at least aim to be there four hours before. Belfast to Dublin I would aim to be there five hours before. If nothing goes wrong there is always something to do. I always take a book, have a meal, do a bit of duty free shopping etc.
If I were travelling from any other airport apart from my local one, where I know I can get a taxi to get me there in twenty minutes, I would travel down the day before and spend the night in an airport hotel.
Good plan jack.
Yes, WBM. It would have cost DD a little bit more but he would not be out of pocket as much as he is now.
That's true for both of our plans jack. I feel sorry for him, he lost his holiday and a lot of money too. just by poor planning.
Every time I fly long haul I get a hotel near the airport the night before. It saves hassle. I've had trains cancelled because of no guard etc. Forward planning is essential in my opinion. Poor DD, make the best of a bad situation by damage limitation. Pay the 700 and put it down to experience. Insurance payout will be a frustrating negative experience.
if I was doing a trip that big theres no way i`d rely on a coach - and I`d go down the day before and stay

surely i got a coach in reasable time, 5.30 am , journey time 1hr and 40 mins to dublin meaning my arrival would have been approx say 7.10 am . flight time was 9.30 am so i would have been at airport 2 hours before hand which is stated by all airlines as a reasonable checkin time.

anyway, i still have not recieved a claim form or even an email back from thhis company ( coverforyou ) i will take this to ombudsman.
also ok, this was a cheaper company but surely all insurance companies are governed by the same rules
They are. But your claim would be against the coach company, which I very much doubt will be covered.
By all means try. I wish you good fortune.
They may well say getting to the airport was your responsibility and you can't have left in reasonable time because you were late/never made it. It depends on what the policy covers- it may cover things like medical illness that prevents you going but not things like a car/bus breakdown or a cancelled train. Good luck. Let us know how you get on.
