Is it a great idea to have car insurance even if you don't own a car? If yes, Please explain.

I don't fully know how the Swiss system works but it seems that the driver is registered, not the vehicle. You can see houses with several cars and only one will have a registration plate on; tto drive a different car you just move the registration plate over. Since the registration never changes and the Swiss are not ones to miss saving a Franc or two, you often see brand new cars (and the Swiss like expensive cars) with a really tatty old registration plate.
"One thing you can be sure of - the Insurance Company will make the small print as confusing as possible because then they can grasp any opportunity to decline a claim. They don't do Simple & Straightforward."
Then I would suggest the issue is with your ability to understand what's written. I've just had a look at my car policy and it's written in very simple to understand plain English.
