Insurance for car change
My daughter is changing her car and her present insurer is very expensive for new car. She has 4 months left on current policy and they will not give a refund if she cancels as she had an windscreen chip repaired. They regard this as a claim albeit no cost and no effect on no claims bonus. Has anyone else heard of this?

Your daughter's insurer will certainly have had to pay for the cost of the repair, so there has been a claim under the policy. She could offer to reimburse the insurer for the cost of the claim (probably less than 100 for repair bill) but tell her to bear in mind that many insurers operate short period cancellation rates anyway, so the refund (if any is due after 8 months) would not necessarily be proportionate to the annual premium. Hope that makes sense!
