my friend has just had an accident he had 2 swerve 2 avoid a car on the wrong side of the road(drunk driver he suspects)the car failed 2 stop he never got reg plate number. his car was wrecked does he have 2 claim on own insurance he has fully comp,full no claims

Hi, It looks as if your friend will have to claim from his own insurers unless he can afford to find the cost of repairs (if repairable) himself, as it seems very unlikely the driver or vehicle will be traced as being involved in this accident. If your friend has NCD that is protected, then the claim shouldn't affect future premiums too much, provided he hasn't made any previous claims in which case the insurers may remove the protection from the NCD. If he has NCD that isn't protected, unfortunately future premiums are likely to be affected as he will lose some NCD.

thanks louise i thought that would be the case.luckily he does have protected no claims its just so unfair.
