illegally parked cars

i hit a illegally parked car. now i presume its still my fault.
there was no damage to the car i hit and i have an independant witnes to this. the cars owner is now saying i caused damage to the undr neath of the car. is this possible?
at the scene i told the old man i was phoning the police, he drove off.in the end i didnt ring the police. can i use this in my defence?
any comments would be gratefull

i think we were both reversing at the same time but he said he was stationary. im just seeing what line to go down

just give this to your insurance company to deal with, they will sort out the rights and wrongs.
issue a county court summons , aggainst the person , who says you have "damaged the underneath of his vehicle ...
As far as im concerned, leaving the scene of an accident will bode well for you, just say he hit you and fled the scene... speaking from experience the fact that he was illegally parked makes no difference.
