Do insurance companies have to give details to you on the amount a claim amounts too? ie - we had a buildings claim and the insurance co. used one their building companies to do the repairs, we did not see the amount they charged the insurance company, does this amount reflect when your renewal is due? They made a mess of the job and eventually had to do a lot more work than the original repair - hence increased costs to 'someone'!!

It will be what you claimed for that affects your policy.
You can ask for a copy of the invoice to the builders, but to be honest the insurance company will use their own approved builders so the price the insurers pay would be a lot less than what it would be if you got an independent quote

Not Neccesarilly true! Any amount of money payed out by insurers adds to a total at the end of their financial year, the more they pay out the less profit they make, hence increases to everyones policies - my insurances company paid out 10,500 to their "approved" builders for my claim which started off as cracked shower tray which had leaked into the room below and a damaged toilet systern top, they had to re-do most of the work and created more by their incompetance - the job took nearly 3 months, i was quoted between 500-600 from a local builder but they told me i would have to use their own builder - something does'nt quite add up !! The insurers are looking into my case at the moment. ie Would anybody pay 10,500 for repairs to their bathroom ? i think not - so why is the insurance company? I would suggest anyone who' s recently made a claim ask the insurance company how much they have paid out. My renewal policy has increased by 120.
