If I took out insurance on a provisional license for a couple of months then had it changed to full uk license after I had passed, would my insurance be likely to be cheaper than just taking out insurance once I had passed my test?
Hope you understand what I mean, I don't think I've worded it too great! Thanks.
It depends on the company. But I do know that when I took out insurance for my son several years ago the company told me it was cheaper if he had a provisional licence - the thinking being that he could not drive the car without being accompanied by an older more experienced driver.
To be honest it is more than likely to go up as on a prov lic ou are not able to drive the car unless you have someone else there.
When you pass you are on your own, and are unfortunately classed as a higher risk, saying that though my company i work for often waive the addition premium. so completely depends on who you are with
Sorry forgot to mention that it would go up if you have a policy taken out on prov not full lic.
But then it may not cost any additional? I have confused myself with my wording so hope it makes sense to you!
