I accidently backed my truck into my scooter last week and was told that I could claim on my Full Comp car insurance to have my scooter (3rd Party only cover) repaired or replaced.

Days later I recieve a phone call from the insurance company informing me that it is against the law to do so. Is this true or are they trying to pull a fast one??

The insurance company is in the right.

Fully comp pays out for third party damage - damage you have caused to property belonging to somebody else - and damage to the insured vehicle, the truck itself.

As your scooter is your own property it cannot pay out on a 'third party' basis and as it is only insured third party you can't claim on the scooter insurance.

Many thanks Ethel - GUTTED! :o(
Further to the answer given by Ethel, I once had a claim refused to damage I caused to a visitors car because it happened on my driveway.
Oooh - that's nasty
