Daughter driving my car

My daughter has just passed her test. She has been driving my car as my 'additional driver'. I'm thinking about buying myself another car. Would it be legal to keep the old car in my name, keep the insurance the same to keep the cost down for her as she would be taking over all the payments.

i think its called fronting, trying to keep costs down by giving false information about owner and driver.

Presumably you intend to remain as Keeper. That being the case then you are the main driver with her as a named driver. However she will be driving the car most of the time, not the other way round. A clear case of fronting, you'll probably get away with it for a while but if there is an incident and this comes to light then there may be complications later. The insurers would not allow this if they knew so effectivley you are obtaining cover by "deception", that is not a specific offence but the insurers could well argue they are being defrauded and may well refuse a future payout and probably withdraw cover.

Just tell the insurer that your daughter is now the main driver. There probably won't be any extra charge.
