Car Insured with AIG
My car is insured with AIG and somebody went into my passenger door in December, he had a company car. All going through to claim from his insurers, however, it has been nothing but paperwork from Albany Assistance who apparently deal with all claims.Firstly, they sent me a letter to say I could have a policy with them to claim back all costs from third party including legal cover for £52.00, so send the £52.00 and we can then continue with your claim. I called them and eventually they understood that I had fully comp insurance and would not be paying anything extra! Then I had a letter from them saying they would be starting a credit agreement for me in case they cant claim the costs back from the third party after 53 weeks I would become liable for this, and they wanted my signature, obviously I havent sent that back and then today they rang me at home to organise the courtesy car as the car is going in on Monday for repair, and they have advise that I need to pay £4.50 a day insurance for the courtesy car or £250.00 if the car is involved in a collision, regardless of whos to blame. Any comments on this, Not a good company to take out your insurance with so be warned that was the cheapest on compare.com, just goes to show sometimes cheapest is definitely not the best.

i would check your policy paperwork , it sounds to me like the insurance maybe not following your agreement.
having also got fully comp insurance and having been in this situation myself . i found that contacting the insurance and advicing off the accident , i didnt have much paperwork to do , just a simple statement of what happened. " if the other party denies fault this may lead to other paperwork ,
if your entitled to a courtacy car during through the insurance, your normal insurance would usualy be transfered to that car for the duration, and only the normal charges would apply in the case of an accident. " check this regarding any paperwork you have".
there should never unless there are legal issues to sort be any need to bring in ny third party company to make a claim.
as for costs incured " ie : voluntery excess !" this is usualy claimed back from the other persons insurance automaticly " if they are at fault " you will normaly have to pay the voluntery excess however should recieve this back from your normal insurance company when they recieve payment from the other insurance company.
