I purchased my car and cat insurance with More Than on Friday evening and they sent me an email confirming my purchases and welcoming me to More Than and also a new password to access my account online. However, when I've just logged on to More Than it says I have no policies with them which has shocked me a bit! Should I be worried or is it just because it's the weekend?
I also went to tax my car online as it has been SORN but I couldn't get far as it said they couldn't find any insurance for my car.... Again is this just because it's the weekend or should I be worried?

hi eash. this may not be very reassuring, but you can't tax your car online if it's around the same time as you've renewed your insurance. I've tried to tax my car online and it won't let me as it's the same month as my insurance is due.

isn't there a More Than helpline you could call?

Thanks sara, there is a helpline but it's only open until 5pm on Saturday I will try calling them tomorrow.

You are only able to tax your car online if the policy details have been entered into the Motor Insurance Database (MID). This usually takes a few days.

The DVLA's vehicle licensing website includes the guidance that before making an application you should check that your vehicle is on the MID by visiting http://www.askmid.com

It can take a day or two for the info to get to the DVLA - you should find all the computers have caught up with you today or tomorrow. Even computers can have time off at the weekend.

I managed to tax my car online this morning so that's reassuring, thanks for all the responses.

I've just tried to renew my car tax online (a massive £20.00) and it won't let me as my insurance is due for renewal on 25/6

Craft1948....if your tax is due at the end of June, your current insurance cover won't be valid if it expires on 25th June, therefore the DVLA shouln't renew the tax.

Craft also shouldn't be able to renew it this far in advance of the renewal date should he?

It says that if your tax is due 1st July you can renew any time after 5th June.

I had this problem for a while then bit the bullet and just did one 6 month tax to stagger the renewal dates of the tax and insurance- after that the annual renewal of my insurance did not complicate the renewal of my tax - just a thought !
