you don't have to get any insurance, but your mortgage company will probably insist, so yes :)

I have already got a mortgage I have just 7 years remaining, I have just had completion on subsidence claim on the property which I had to pay the first £1000.00, my insurance company have put my new premium up to £63.47 per month from £35.46 per month. I went on various sites but no other companies will touch the property, that is why I am asking about insuring I am a pensioner on £130.20 per week. You can see my dilema
yes, but it is still probably a condition of your mortgage

Thanks bednobs
have you asked your mortgage company if they offer insurance? worth asking
Ask you insurer is they would accept a higher subsidence excess (say £2,500) in exchange for a reduced premium
Speak to a local Insurance Broker to see if they can find a better deal in the market. Your mortgate supplier will probably charge you a fee (used to be £25) if you change your insurers.
