Help needed ! (gizza job)
9 Answers
I am after some career advice.
At the age 40 and in a 'make-do' job paying very low wages since I left Uni, I feel I want to change career path !
Problem is, nobody wants me. Qualifications in one area, experience in another.
300+ job applications now and getting fed-up.

Will shortly be made redundant and my uni quals are in nursing - a career i can't go back to. My current job is in public engagement but have no quals in that - it was a job i was redeployed to. if i want another job in engagement, i'll have to take a pay cut cause i have no qualifications
iggle piggle - you've been in a 'make do' job for what, 10-15 years? and I'm assuming you haven't done anything to find out about, get qualified for or get experience in an area that interests you. Prospective employers may find this apparent lacking of ambition uninspiring. Is there no way at all you can use the qualifications you already have in another, more challenging area of your present work? Otherwise it's back to the drawing board to try and get re-trained I think. As you've found out, lots of people looking for work so you need a USP to catch the eye!
rsvp, I am a qualified electrician with a law degree gained in 2009 and a certificate in social sciences but with experience in security, defence electronics and building maintenance !
That is my problem ...
I would like to drop back into being a production manager but I think the law degree scares employers away from me.
