Sorry I overlooked your question before now... as a lifelong airline pilot I'd recommend taking a look at some of the desktop computer flying progarms. I'm loathe to call them "games", since they actually do replicate a lot of the instrumentation. The things is, when sitting at the gate, I've often gotten the comment (not always from the children" "Wow!... how do you look at all the gauges all the time". Which, of course, isn't done. The value of the "game" is that it initiates the most critical aspect of any flying, but especially instrument flyin and that is Instrument scan.... the ability to understand the big picture based on the little pieces of it. A book or two containing aviation terms would be hlepful... knowing one's aileron from one's pitot tube is always useful. Welcome to the club, by the way. It has it's up's and down's...(sorry)...
