I'm going for a 2 day assessment soon, which will involve much informal chat with my prospective employers. The position im applying for is junior photographer for a company that provides the travel industry with..you guessed it...photographers. There'll be quite a few people to compete against, how do I make myself stand out from the crowd without looking like an eager little boy?...if that makes sense..any techniques or tips would be greatly appreciated :)

First of all make sure you research the company you are going to be going to. Have they got a website etc. and at some point in the conversation throw in 'yes I saw on the website that blah blah, or I saw in the literature etc.' that shows you have been doing your homework. I know nothing about the industry but presumably you would have some pics with you to show them. Try to mention an interest outside of the field which will show you are an interesting person i.e. I collect old Box Brownies or something, or I am interesting in photographing planets (or hope to in the future) Above all be likeable, and smile a lot.
take samples of your work.
also you have to sell yourself in the first minute.
ask relevent questions
dont go on and on.
be firm and positive in your answers to the questions they
ask.
also show them that you are confident in your
photographic work.
so they will shortlist you, above others.
