Hi, I am currently completing fifth year in Scotland. For my final Higher exams I should achieve;
Maths-A,
English-B,
Graphic Communication-A,
Physics-A
German-A.
I used to be interested in becoming an architect. I am competent at the Technical drawings side however i am not especially creative. Is there any architects that could give me advice or clear up what being an architect is like.
In addition I am also considering alternative possible career paths. Does anyone know any websites that give information on Jobs, qualifications or salaries. One weakness I have is that I am more interested in salary than the type of work I would be doing. I still have time to pick different highers for sixth year so any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

If you are interested in money then the offshore oil industry is a great bet. My partner got an apprenticeship with BP when he left school with similar grades. I am pretty sure they are still running these apprenticeships but competition for them is pretty high. His training was based in Grangemouth for a year or two before he went offshore. He works two weeks offshore, three weeks at home. He is a production tech in the North Sea but if he really wanted he could go abroad and earn much more. His friend is currently in Trinidad and Tobago earning 5000 per month at age 26.
I know three people who studied architecture, but by the time they finished their courses, they had completely lost interest and enthusiasm for it.

All three work in entirely different fields now.

I'm not sure if this answer is helpful, but it does raise some questions you might want to research.
