I need some advice. I currently working in council tax for my local council but I find it soooo tedious and boring I'm in need of a change. I'm 18 years old and have been working for them for just over a year, I have 13 GSCEs 10 of which are either A or A* but I decided at the time continuing with education was not for me and so went straight into work. I am open to the idea of going back to education prehaps in a part college part on job traingin roll. But I really dont know where to start!

Ideally I'm looking to work in a demanding environment prehaps something vocational and something which would be a daily challenge and differ from day to day. I am willing to work either independently or in a team and I dont mind working with the public.

Jobs I have thought of so far include vet nurse, RSPCA inspector (have a driving licence) or something in beauty.

I have been to see my local career advisor and all I get told is go to uni which I dont want to do.

Please help.

sadly most things that you want to do involve further or higher education - a lot of jobs will expect you to have a degree or other qualifications.
what is wrong with going to uni to get those qualifications to get the job you want?
wow hello other me!
I worked at my local council for 2 years on amenity services and yes, it does suck. i packed it all in and went backpaking for 7 months. best thing i ever did.
I came back, got a job as a travel agent even though i had no experience. I enjoy it but my heart is with animals and traveling, so, about 5 days ago i booked myself a little treat with a company called I to I. I'm working with lion cubs for 4 weeks on november. They offer all these different courses all over the world with all different manner of animals.

mable doing something like this would give you a taster of what you can do with your life. And who knows, you may enjoy it so much you won't want to leave :)
p.s uni is over rated. All my friends are now £40k + in debt and have no job where as me, well ive been all over the world and im still going strong, plus im not poor! a win for me!
