Getting Into Events Organising

Does anyone have any advice on getting started in Events Organising? All the jobs seem to need previous experience, so I was wondering the best way to go about actually getting experience in the first place.

you could always phone up some organising companies asking for unpaid work experience for a couple of weeks?
then once you've rung round more companies asking for the same thing, they might see that you're good enough to be taken on for paid work.
