my friend is a qualified Engineer and has been asked to clean / refurbish clay pigeon guns. He is more than capable of doing this with his skills but wants to know if he needs any certificates / qualifications etc and how to obtain them .

As everybody who has a gun (in the UK) has to have a police gun licence I would suggest that to clean/repair them you would need a licence. Ask the police to help & I assume that you would have to have a gun cabinet to house them (bolted to the wall). The police visit & check up
on this but don't remind you when your licence is due.

thanks LWL ! He would not be transporting or housing the guns as the work would be done on the premises of a licenced gunholder - dont know if that makes adifference!
