9 Years in the mob have left me slightly instatutionialised (spelling ) and now i'm heading back to civvy street I have no idea what to do.

Any ideas on a job that'll pay me £28000pa, not expect me to work that hard, give me time off for sport, send me on sunny holidays, and give me free dental?

Jack, I am genuinely stumped about what to do in civvy street. I've had to close off a lot of avenues normal service leavers use because of personal problems and I'm stuck trying to decide how to use my resettlement to best effect.

If I wanted to brag I'd have told you about all the extra perks we get as well, such as free shoes, the ability to tell war stories, and the power to snap knicker-elastic at 100yds. lol.

I would advise winging back over your RAF career and compiling a list of all your areas of expertise then getting a CV together. Armed with that, arrange a reconnaissance with a careers advisor, you might have to set your sights lower and aim for something less high flying that what you've just posted, then I'm sure it will be chocs away when they've briefed you.

Looking for transferable skill that you have with some advice might just get you to be able to use the skills you have developed in the RAF into a new career in civvy street.

You may need to set your sights a bit lower to start, but it is opportunities to get onto a good career ladder that you need to concentrat on at this stage!
