While there's no written rule that would prohibit such construction, you should keep in mind that bullet points were designed more for use in Power Point presentations rather than essays and other forms of academic writing, since they are written more as continuous prose, with the use of paragraphs being paramount. Bullet points may be effective in short, pithy, to-the-point presentations but are too informal for essays... my opinion only, by the way...
Definitely take them out. I've been told you can use them in a statement but not an essay. Read The Study Skills Handbook by Stella Cottrell. Excellent essay guide.
