How beneficial is homework?

I'm looking at how beneficial homework is to students. Please let me know your fellings.

As beneficial as your child wants it to be, they will either absorb it or not bother.

Do you mean students as in university students or just anybody learning such as pupils, adults etc?
Homework for school pupils is the best (and only?)
way to prepare them for tertiary education, where
self-education is obligatory.

What is actually taught at university is hopelessly
insufficient for the purpose of gaining degrees. It
relies 100% on the student learning for himself. That
is the nature of adulthood.

Taught classes can only start the process of learning;
they cannot finish it. Homework is therefore a good
introduction to being 'grown-up'.
