How do you feel about the dwindling numbers of comprehensives?

There are only 340 comprehensive schools left. They have been replaced by specialist schools, academies and grammar schools. Are you sad to see the back of the comprehensive school? Is it a good idea, or have the government overcomplicated things?

What a pile of tat!

My children go to a comprehensive school that is also has specialist technology status.

Having specialist status does not stop a school being fundamentally comprehensive.

Sounds like someone's playing fast and loose with the facts again!

I just think its sad that there should still be 'good' schools and 'bad' schools in this day and age.
The comprehensive system was supposed to level the playing field, by bringing all the standards up, but did it really??

Specialist schools, academies and their like ARE comprehensive in nature!

Only selective schools are not e.g. where a child has to take a test to get in, such as the eleven plus.
