What Does She Need
First of all congratulations to all you 17-18 year olds on getting the grades you wanted and getting into Uni.
My granddaughter is one of you and i think this is where the headaches start for us as her guardians and for her as a student.
Getting to the point can anyone tell me in simple terms apart from herself and clothes is there a list of things she can get from somewhere on what she has to take i.e.pens, pencils, paper etc. and all the other stuff, she will be living in halls so it could be quite a list any help thankfully received.

Stationery: usual paraphernalia such as pens, pencils, paper pads, A4 files, diary, address book etc
Bedding: contact the halls of residence to find out whether they provide pillows and duvet (some do, some dont). so she may need these and obviously a supply of bed linen. A sleeping bag is also handy if any friends want to stay with her.
Crockery: again, contact her halls and find out what kitchen facilities she will have. While my halls were catered, they provided breakfast and evening meals weekdays only, and I had to prepare all my other meals. As the kitchen only provided a two ring hob, I was really grateful for the kettle and toaster I had taken along! Buy a cheap set of crockery and cutlery and a supply of some basic rations such as tins of soup, beans, packet noodles, pasta, etc.
Have a look at the web pages for her uni, they may have pages dedicated to New Arrivals and giving info on what she can expect in the first few days. Undoubtedly she will need to register at the uni, and her academic department; collect her NUS card; collect her student ID card; attend departmental induction meetings; register at a doctors surgery (she will need her NHS card); attend the Freshers Fair; go to any halls welcome events.
The list is endless! She could also contact the unis students union for tips and advice.

Reading the above post has made me all nostalgic - I LOVED my time at University it was absolutely fantastic! I'm she will have so much fun.
I'd recommend a laptop/PC and printer - it is so much better to have one there than drag yourself into uni when assignments are due in the winter! Also a memory stick for the computer and back up for all assignments and work.
